Maj Lind lived surrounded by different languages and cultures. She would undoubtedly have delighted in the medley of languages that the piano competition bearing her name will be bringing to the Helsinki Music Centre in August 2017.

The Maj Lind International Piano Competition held in Helsinki on 14-27 October 2022 culminated in the second Orchestral Final on Thursday evening. The jury declared Piotr Pawlak the winner.

In the Orchestral Finals the contestants will perform a piano concerto with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anna-Maria Helsing.

Chamber music ensembles in the finals

In the chamber music final on 23 October, the finalists will play a quartet together with chamber music ensembles Kamus or Meta4.

The commissioned work for the competition was composed by Outi Tarkiainen. Competitors may, in the second round, alternatively improvise on a theme. The theme is issued 20 minutes before performance.
