Meet the jury of the competition

We are pleased to welcome the jury of the International Maj Lind Piano Competition 2022. The jury consists of international piano experts, distinguished professionals, and laureates with successful careers as artists, performers, directors, professors, and teachers.

The jury is chaired by Joanna MacGregor.
Other members are Hieyon Choi, Kyoko Hashimoto, Björn Lehmann, Robert Levin, Cédric Pescia, Margit Rahkonen, Kalle Randalu and Rene Shereshevskaya.

Piotr Pawlak wins the Maj Lind Piano Competition

The Maj Lind International Piano Competition held in Helsinki on 14-27 October 2022 culminated in the second Orchestral Final on Thursday evening. The jury declared Piotr Pawlak the winner.

In the Orchestral Finals the contestants will perform a piano concerto with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anna-Maria Helsing.

Chamber music ensembles in the finals

In the chamber music final on 23 October, the finalists will play a quartet together with chamber music ensembles Kamus or Meta4.

The commissioned work for the competition was composed by Outi Tarkiainen. Competitors may, in the second round, alternatively improvise on a theme. The theme is issued 20 minutes before performance.
