Anthony Hartono (born 29 January 1995) is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the Sibelius Academy under Teppo Koivisto. He obtained his Bachelor of Music in piano performance from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore under Albert Tiu, with a full scholarship. His former teachers include Johannes Nugroho and Midya Wirawan. Hartono won the first prize in the Ananda Sukarlan Award International Piano Competition 2014 in Jakarta. He has participated in summer festivals and has been the recipient of awards, prizes and a scholarship.

The commissioned work for the competition was composed by Outi Tarkiainen. Competitors may, in the second round, alternatively improvise on a theme. The theme is issued 20 minutes before performance.
