Natanel Grinshtein (born 12 February 1995) has won the first prize at the Primavera Pianistica competition in Belgium and the second prize at the International Piano Competition in Mayenne in France. He has been a soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Music Fest Perugia Festival Orchestra. Grinshtein began his studies at the age of five with Michael Kishinevsky. At the age of 14 he started his studies in Michal Tal’s Studio at the Givatayim Conservatory, and he continues to study with Michal Tal at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music. He has also participated in the David Goldman Programme for Outstanding Young Musicians at the Jerusalem Music Center, as well as in chamber music ensembles under the supervision of Hillel Zori and Menachem Wiesenberg.

The commissioned work for the competition was composed by Outi Tarkiainen. Competitors may, in the second round, alternatively improvise on a theme. The theme is issued 20 minutes before performance.
