The academy was established in 1882 and bears the name of the Finnish master composer Jean Sibelius.<\/p>\n<p>Our mission is to foster and renew musical culture through teaching, research, and artistic activities. We are one of Europe\u2019s largest music academies with 1,400 students and 500 teachers united by our passion for music. For several years in a row, the Sibelius Academy has been ranked among the world\u2019s best performing arts schools (QS World University Rankings by Subject).<\/p>\n<h3>Studying piano music at the Sibelius Academy<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n<p>At the Sibelius Academy you can study to become a professional piano musician under the guidance of respected Finnish and international artists and pedagogues. At the heart of the studies are soloistic skills, chamber music and Lied. Students learn to master the playing technique and styles required by the central repertoire and develop skills needed for independent artistic work.
